FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Doesn’t it cost more to live in a fraternity?

A: That may be so at some universities, and even some of the other fraternities on our campus, but not true of us. See the table below for a comparison of the costs.

Rooms $1838-$2122 $3045

Q: How will I be able to study in a fraternity house?

A: Our chapter offers many aides and incentives for achieving high scholarship. Phi Gamma Delta’s GPA is consistently well above the all-men’s average. Studying at the chapter house is not hard. We have two rooms exclusively dedicated to studying, and keep quiet hours Sunday-Thursday from 7-10pm. For more, see our membership development page.

Q: I’ve heard about fraternities that haze their members. Does that still happen at FIJI?

A: Hazing is an extremely serious issue and is not tolerated in any form by our chapter. Iowa State as well as Phi Gamma Delta’s policies specifically prohibit hazing. Any chapter in violation of these codes would be immediately shut down.

Q: I’d like to experience the dorms during his first year. Do I still have the option of joining FIJI?

A: FIJI offers out-of-house pledging in which freshmen live in the residence halls their first semester and then choose whether to move into the house afterward. This allows for freshmen to have a "dorm experience" while still being able to take part in the opportunities and activities that fraternity life provides.
