Phi Gamma Delta - Alpha Iota

Phi Gams have been a strong presence on the Iowa State campus since 1907 when the charter was first established. The foundation of the Iowa State chapters contribution to Iowa State lies in continuously improving upon the values established within Phi Gamma Delta: Knowledge, Excellence, Morality, Friendship, and Service.
Knowledge
Priorities are everything in higher education, and Alpha Iota Phi Gams place pursuing knowledge at the top of the list. Achieving success in academics is a goal for all Fijis, and it's one that we continuously reach, with an average chapter GPA of 2.98 in the past three years, as well as ranking in the top 5 for average GPA among fraternities at Iowa state.
Excellence
As a unit, Fiji strives to excel at everything that it is involved in, whether it's academics, on-campus leadership involvement, participation in homecoming and greek week, or becoming more familiar with both greek and non-greek communities. Every year Alpha Iota sets high, manageable and measurable expectations that remind us of what we are capable of.
Morality
College is not just a place to learn, it's a place to realize what we want our contribution to the rest of society is going to be. Living with Fiji gentlemen teaches its members how to make decisions positively, whether it be advising in future career decisions, suggesting effective study methods, or how to get yourself out into the college community. These are all important aspects of college life, and nothing is more valuable than a house full of helping hands, guiding every man to success.
Friendship
"Not For College Days Alone" is an excellent way to describe the relationships built at Alpha Iota. It's a phrase that Fijis say to remind themselves of the bonds that are created at Fiji. Building a strong group of friends that will look out for you at every twist and turn of life is invaluable, and no where is it more possible to do this than Fiji. Friendships formed at Fiji are more than just people to engage in small talk with. They're an agreement of mutual respect; a life contract. Those brothers will be your best friends throughout your college days and beyond, regardless of how much time passes in between seeing one another.
Service
Higher education is about becoming a strong, contributing member of society, and this is an extremely important concept at Fiji. Phi Gams are constantly thinking of new ways to benefit the community, whether it be executing an extra philanthropy to raise money for flood damage, or simply helping an elderly neighbor cross the street. These two examples do not even scratch the surface of the community service that Phi Gams provide through out the school year, and the mentality Fijis maintain when it comes to helping the community. This is the principal that is instilled, and is carried on into the real world where Phi Gams work to make a difference on a large scale, whether it be through engineering, agriculture, business, or any other degree, this is just another detail that sets Phi Gamma Delta apart.
